Default Auto vs Manual

I just read that the Max towing of an Automatic Transmission is almost double of a Manual. The auto towing max shows 34000 lbs and the manual showing 17700 lbs. Am I missing something here? Im looking at the Dodge Ram 6.7l

Probably has a lot to do with the tuning and the computers involved in selecting the proper gear.

Personally, towing is stressful and you are doing a ton of things at once. I love a manual as much as the next guy, but I don't believe this is the right application. Even a lot of newer semi trucks are going with HD Allison Autos now

I agree. Busses too. Our school fleet is almost 100% auto. At first I thought it was about driver's not being able to shift, but the reality is the amount of life you get out of the engine.
