Default new guy with Sierra question

I have a 1993 Sierra with 130,000 miles and it needs a few repairs. First, when I turn the wheels, when i am stopped or moving slow, there is a clicking noise coming form the front end that i cannot figure out. Also, i need a new fuel tank and fuel lines and was thinking of replacing the fuel pump and sending unit while i had the tank down. Before i begin i was looking for any tips or advice on any of these projects and a good place to buy new parts.

Im assuming you have independant front suspension so the clicking noise is probably your CV shafts and they need replacing. As for the fuel pump and sending unit be extremely careful when you take everything apart that you dont drop any rust or dirt in the tank, its not fun to clean out and takes a very long time to do it right, also if you have quick disconnect fuel lines make sure you get the tool to take them apart, you can get the tool and the parts at any auto parts store, advanced auto, napa, cap, etc... but most dealerships also carry the parts.

shouldnt have the quick disconnects there on a half ton. check out either lmctruck.com or partstrain.com for the gas tank. can get the sending unit there to or at a parts store. would be a good measure to replace the fuel pump while the tanks out. shouldnt have to replace the entire sending unit tho unless its faulty. hope this helps you.

I thought the fuel pump and the sending unit were the same thing. Can anyone give me some clarity on that?

the sending unit is the entire unit that sits in the tank. and the fuel pump is a little cylinder with wires plugging into it and a filter sock on the end of it.
