Hi, I am looking to buy a used truck, fuel economy is somewhat important for I will be going to school for the following year. I have been looking at the the lightsize trucks, and if i were to get a lightsize, such as the ford ranger, it would be the bigger v6 and more then likley 4x4. but my question is, how much worse would a single cab two wheel drive full size, like a chev with the 4.8 v8 be on gas then the 4.0l 4x4 ranger? any help would be great. I will be hauling a 4 wheeler or two periodically. thanks.

 

hey if i were you man id go for a colorado or canyon, thoes things have way more power than a ranger
and are way better on gas you cant go wrong with more power and less fuel

 

I have a dilema also, I have the 2.2L GMC which goes 300 miles on a tank. Keep in mind that the tank is 15 gallons. Then I have a Ranger with a V-64X4 and cannot pass a gas station without filling up the 15 gallon tank. The wife has a 3.8 in her car and a 20 gallon tank.The 2.2 has pulled cars, lawnmowers and boats, you just gotta get rid of the factory crap that slows them down, like the cat andadd acold air intake, I've done this to mine and to a friends 2.2 and they will both redline at 6 grand, sets you back in the seat a bit.
