anyone know how to test the ignition coils on a 02 s-10 with a 2.2? My mileage has been terrible lately and every now and then it cuts out. I have changed wires, plugs and fuel filter. thanks

 

Auto Zone will check it for you.

 

any idea how they test it? I checked the primary and seconday resistance and they where in spec. My friend is a mechanic and says he hasnt had any luck testing them that way.

 

Have you had the codes run on the vehicle? With those 2.2l engines, the O2 sensors are notorious for fouling and the PCV valves have a tendency to regurgitate oil if they ever lose vacuum.
Take your intake off and inspect it for oil, and take it to auto zone and get them to run the codes on it.

 

Well I haven't had any codes, and I replaced the o2 sensors. I'm not sure where else to go besides the coils.

 

Have you considered the possibility that the injectors are stopped up?

 

When it dies dose it choke then die or just cut out?

 

Ive had the injectors cleaned and it just cuts out sometimes going down the highway, usually when its warm and has a good load on it like going uphill. It feels a little down on power and mileage is down a few miles.
