Default 2500HD 2WD 4:10 Rear End Question

Does anyone know if it possible to install 4:88's in the stock 4:10 housing?
Before you ask any questions, I will tell you why. I tow a fifth wheel camper with my 6.0L gasser and love it. I would like to lessen the stress on the transmission and with 4:88's and a gear vendors splitter. This would provide a 2.85 final ratio in place of a 3.08 and a 12.10 first gear ratio in place of a 10.17. This would give me better pulling out of the hole and better highway fuel mileage...especially when empty.

Default Check with your local transmission shop?

Hi, I'm not technically qualified to answer your question; but would think that a local high end transmission shop would be able to answer your question? More specifically; in the Seattle area we have Randy's Ring and Pinion server in Lynnwood; they sell nationally and seem to have all the parts for most all vehicles. www.ringpinion.com Also; Currie Enterprises might be a good reference for you www.currieenterprises.com. Hope that all helps.
