2500HD 2WD 4:10 Rear End Question
Does anyone know if it possible to install 4:88's in the stock 4:10 housing?
Before you ask any questions, I will tell you why. I tow a fifth wheel camper with my 6.0L gasser and love it. I would like to lessen the stress on the transmission and with 4:88's and a gear vendors splitter. This would provide a 2.85
final ratio in place of a 3.08 and a 12.10
first gear ratio in place of a 10.17. This would give me better pulling out of the hole and better highway fuel mileage...especially when empty.

Hi, I'm not technically qualified to answer your question; but would think that a local high end transmission shop would be able to answer your question? More specifically; in the Seattle area we have Randy's Ring and Pinion server in Lynnwood; they sell nationally and seem to have all the parts for most all vehicles. www.ringpinion.com Also; Currie Enterprises might be a good reference for you www.currieenterprises.com. Hope that all helps.
