Ford Fix
A friend of mine has a car ZX2 which will not maintain a good idle while in "Drive". In park it runs fine. While driving it runs fine, but when completely stopped you need to either do a brakes stand with it, or put it in "Neutral" to get it idle propperly. Haven't getten my hands on it but it was recently tuned up (Or so she says). I was thinking Idle Air Control Motor. Any other ideas on what to check if I can get my hands on it?

RE: Ford Fix
I can't remember if those are coil packs or distributor. Last zx2 I was in was for the timing chain. However when I was in hs my dad took my cougar to the oil change place for a tune up because he thought that I was to busy with football and all, anyway I get home and it does exactly what you are describing. For whatever reason they messed with the distriubtor housing, but the high quality techs that work for quaker lube didn't know enough to unplug the advance when timing the engine and they had it about 8 degrees retarded.

RE: Ford Fix
Thats my biggest problem, neither my best female friend (ZX2), nor my girlfriend (95 Escort GT) can afford new or better vehicles right now. But after driving and working on both, I like the 95 escort better. That little Mazda 1.8 DOHC motor runs like a bat out of hell and my girlfriend beats the sh*t out of it too. The trans sucks on both cars as usual.
Anyhow, I figured it was the AIC because I've done a few on Fords before. I don't think the ZX2 has a distributor, but I could be wrong.
And I would love to blow them both up and have them buy better cars with the insurance money.
Thanks for the input guys!
