What are pully's?
In case you didn't already know it, I'm a noob when it comes to wrenching ...
But what the heck is a pully?
I was talking to a guy today from a local performance shop about cams and tuning and he mentioned that he offers a cam package for $2500.00.
Included is: Cam, roller rockers, risers, pully's, custom tune (diablo tuner on top of my existing tune). I forgot what else he mentioned ...

What's the underdrive pully?
He came across with the attitude of "this is a no-brainer when going for additional performance."
He said afterwards, my truck should be putting 450-520 hp to the wheels .....
Ohh, the price also includes getting Dyno'ed.

Underdrive pullies are aftermarket pullies that have a tiny bit smaller diameter and weigh a lot less than your stock pullies. They help a LOT usually but I haven't been able to find any for our trucks. If there is someone that makes an under drive pully kit I'd buy it before the custom tune for sure!
Now that you mention it I have been thinking about doing that as well. I nearly bought an underdrive pully kit for my old 98 Camaro Z28 but I never did. It seems like a pretty easy mod to do, and Ive heard its worth the money. My only question is wouldnt it make all of your accessories lose power because the pulleys arent turning as fast? It would suck if my a/c didnt blow as cold or my stereo didnt bump as loud because the pulleys are smaller.
Also, I remember seeing an underdrive kit for Silverados online but i cant remember the site. If you google it and look hard enough im sure you will find it tho.

The kits are supposed to be engineered in such a manor that it won't affect your belt driven accessories enough to cause running issues. And if you were really worried about it you could just try it out, and if any of your accessories seemed to be slacking too much you could simply swap the factory pully back in place of the accessory that is having problems...... but like I said, they are engineered not to cause problems. And they are worth it!
