strange sound in trans

Default strange sound in trans

i jacked up truck and put on jack stands and pulled drive shaft
it sounds like noise is coming from the tail shaft
i pulled the back houseing off and semms to be fine but
tail shaft has some play in it how much should it have (play)

a fair amount...does the noise change when it shifts?

yes it seems to be worse in 1 and over drive
it is a squiling sound of some sort

not good..1-4 are the same clutch...better hit the dealer or trans shop

stll shifts the same but it makes that sound do u think that it is some thing broke i side if so sould i be able to pull pan off and see some thing in the pan

i doubt it..there is a 1-4 drum thats known to break..or its bearing...i'd get it checked out...
